FAQ

How much do drill upgrades cost in Drill to Earth's Core?
Starting prices are Common 100 Coins, Rare 250, Epic 500, Legendary 1,000 and Mythic 10,000. Every purchase raises that rarity's price — by 20, 50, 100, 200 and 1,000 Coins respectively — so buying many Commons gets expensive over a long run.
How many drill upgrades can you pick from?
Each roll shows four cards. Three are bought with Coins and one with Robux, so a Coin-only player chooses from three options every time.
What are the best drill upgrades?
RPM Overclock, Ultra Drill and Power Burst. RPM Overclock increases hits per second, Ultra Drill adds stacking damage while drilling nonstop, and Power Burst multiplies the accumulated damage during its active window. Together they are the fastest way to break a boss wall.
What is Power Burst?
Power Burst is an Epic upgrade that unlocks Burst Mode, letting the driver activate a temporary boost to drill power and speed. It starts at 1.5x max speed and 2x drive speed, runs for 5 seconds, and each level adds 0.5x damage.
Do drill upgrades carry between runs?
No. Drill upgrades are bought with Coins during a descent and belong to that run. Cores are the lobby currency that buys classes permanently — see the Cores guide for how the two currencies split.

How the upgrade shop works

Drill upgrades belong to the drill machine, not to you. They improve the team’s wall damage, speed, fuel capacity and defensive stats, and they are bought with Coins during a descent — not with Cores.

Every roll offers four cards: three you can buy with Coins and one that costs Robux. A Coin-only player therefore picks from three options each time, which is why knowing what you want matters more here than in a shop with a full inventory.

Purchasing has a cost curve. Each buy raises the price of that rarity by a fixed amount, so leaning on Commons all run gets progressively worse value:

Rarity Starting price Price increase per buy Tier multiplier
Common 100 Coins +20 Coins
Rare 250 Coins +50 Coins 2x
Epic 500 Coins +100 Coins 3x
Legendary 1,000 Coins +200 Coins 4x
Mythic 10,000 Coins +1,000 Coins 10x

When an upgrade rolls up a tier it also multiplies, so a Rare card is worth 2x its base effect, an Epic 3x, a Legendary 4x and a Mythic 10x — at a correspondingly higher price.

The three-card combo that breaks walls

If you only remember one thing from this page, make it this: RPM Overclock, Ultra Drill and Power Burst are the fastest boss wall break in the game, and they only work as a set.

Here is the interaction:

  1. RPM Overclock increases how often the drill hits the wall. More hits means Ultra Drill stacks faster.
  2. Ultra Drill adds +1 stacking damage for every hit while you drill nonstop. Left alone it ramps slowly; with RPM Overclock it ramps quickly.
  3. Power Burst multiplies the damage that has accumulated. Because it multiplies rather than adds, it is worth far more after Ultra Drill has been stacking than at the start of a wall.

Use them in that order on a boss wall. Power Burst’s active window is only 5 seconds, so the play is to build stacks first, then burst.

That combination is also the answer to the HP curve: boss wall HP runs from 100 in the Grass Layer to 500,000 before the 100 km mark and 5,000,000 at the Heart of the Earth. No amount of combat damage keeps up with that. The layers page has the full HP table, and the 100 KM plan shows where these three cards decide a run.

Where your Coins should go

For a first run, buy Drill Power and Fuel Storage. They are 100 Coins each and they fix the two problems beginners actually have.

Once you are clearing layers reliably, save for the Epic tier rather than buying every Common that appears. Power Burst is the single most valuable card in the shop, and RPM Overclock is close behind.

One more thing worth knowing: Money Drill pays +10 Coins per wall broken. Little and Large Walls appear every 700 m to 1 km, so a deep run breaks a lot of walls — which makes Money Drill an economy card disguised as a drill upgrade. It is a reasonable buy if you are saving for something expensive.

If you are still working out what to spend lobby currency on, how to get Cores covers the earning side and all classes covers the prices.
