FAQ

How many enemies are in Drill to Earth's Core?
There are eighteen standard enemies and four bounty enemies as of September 2026. Goblins are the most common family, appearing in six variants from the plain Goblin at 100 HP up to the Goblin Champion at 10,000 HP.
Which enemies can only be killed with pickaxes or explosives?
The Watcher, Fuel Leech, Mimic and Bombo, plus any enemy carrying the Stone mutation. Every other enemy can be killed with any weapon, so a team that relies purely on guns will struggle in mineshafts where Watchers appear.
What is the Watcher and why is it dangerous?
The Watcher has 500 HP, moves at 25 speed, and deals instant-kill damage — it cannot be killed with normal weapons. It spawns in Mineshafts from the Dirt Layer down, which makes mineshafts the most dangerous structure relative to their depth.
What do mutations do in Drill to Earth's Core?
Mutations start appearing from the Stone Layer down and scale enemies in different ways. Void makes enemies tankier and stronger but slower, Electric speeds them up, Fire and Toxic apply damage-over-time to players, Excessive Growth makes them giant, Golden triples their price, and Stone makes them explode into ores.
Which mutation is best for farming?
Golden. It triples the coin price of an enemy with no downside to the fight, making a Golden Goblin Champion worth 9,000 Coins instead of 3,000. Stone is the other valuable one — a Stone-mutated enemy explodes into random ores when killed.

How enemies work

Enemies spawn underground near the drill, in structures, and in darkness. They can be killed with any weapon — except the Watcher, Fuel Leech, Mimic, Bombo, and any enemy carrying the Stone mutation, which can only be taken down with pickaxes or explosives.

Every enemy has a coin price and a fuel value. You can sell them for Coins or burn them as fuel for the drill, which makes even weak enemies useful on a long run.

Full enemy stats

Enemy Health Speed Damage Price Fuel
Goblin 100 19 4 10 5
Goblin Brute 300 18 8 40 10
Loot Goblin 80 26 3 20 5
Spider 100 24 6 20 5
Bat Minion 80 27 10 50 5
Vampire 200 24 12 100 5
Goblin Knight 1,000 23 20 250 15
Goblin Lord 3,000 17 25 500 25
Goblin Champion 10,000 20 80 3,000 25
Mole Man 2,000 24 30 1,000 25
Venom Spider 80 22 12 30 5
Gunner Miner 100 15 10 10 5
Companion 500 18 20 5
Fire Widow 10,000 80 100 3,000 35
Bombo 50 15 60 0
Watcher 500 25 Instant kill 0
Wolf Bat 5,000 25 50 0
Fuel Leech 50 53 0

A few of these stand out more than the rest:

Watcher — 500 HP, 25 speed, instant kill, and immune to normal weapons. It appears in Mineshafts from the Dirt Layer down, which makes the Mineshaft the most dangerous structure for its depth.

Fuel Leech — 50 HP but 53 speed, the fastest thing in the game, and it drains the drill’s fuel. It cannot be killed with normal weapons either. From the Crystal Layer down, leeches are the reason you want to solve problems without stepping out of the truck.

Bombo — 50 HP with 60 damage. It dies instantly and it kills you instantly, which makes it the highest-variance enemy in the game.

Wolf Bat — 5,000 HP, 50 damage, and it fully regenerates its health 10 seconds after being stunned. You cannot kill it in the usual sense. The 100 KM plan covers the fight.

Fire Widow — 10,000 HP, 80 speed, 100 damage, and worth 35 fuel. It is the single most dangerous normal enemy in the game, and also the best fuel source.

Bounty enemies

Four enemies are worth selling to the Bounty Hunter class for 10x their normal coin value:

Enemy Health Speed Damage Fuel Bounty
Bandit Miner 100 21 7 5 10–40
Void Bandit Miner 150 15 10 5 40–60
Crazy Miner 150 23 15 5 10–40
Void Crazy Miner 200 19 20 5 40–60

The catch with bounties is the selling location: the only guaranteed buyer is at 43,000 m, with others appearing randomly. That single fact is why the Bounty Hunter class ranks at the bottom of our tier list despite the 10x multiplier.

All seven mutations

Mutations start appearing from the Stone Layer down and scale enemies in different directions. Each one also multiplies the enemy’s price.

Mutation Price Fuel Effect
Stone 1.5x 1x Explodes on death and drops random ores. Only killable with pickaxes or explosives
Electric 1.5x 1.5x Big speed increase, with an electric visual on the body
Fire 1.5x 1x Applies a 5-second burn that deals 2% of your max HP per second
Toxic 1.5x 1x Applies a 5-second poison that deals 1% of your max HP per second
Void 1.5x 1x Tankier and higher damage, slightly slower
Excessive Growth 1.5x 3x Makes the enemy giant — more health, less speed
Golden 3.0x 1x Purely a cosmetic sparkle, with triple the price

Golden is the one you want. It triples the coin price with no change to the fight, so a Golden Goblin Champion pays 9,000 Coins instead of 3,000. It also carries the best fuel multiplier of the non-growth mutations.

Stone is the one that changes your loadout. A Stone-mutated enemy explodes into random ores when it dies, which is free ore — but you cannot shoot it. A team of pure Gunslingers has to walk away from Stone enemies, which is the argument for keeping an explosive or pickaxe class in the party. The Demolitionist guide covers that role.

Fire and Toxic stack as damage over time — 2% and 1% of your max HP per second for five seconds. On a deep run where you already have a small health buffer, that is the difference between surviving a room and not.

What mutations do to stats

Mutation multipliers apply on top of base stats, so the same enemy can be trivial or lethal depending on what it rolled:

Enemy Mutation Health Speed Damage Price Fuel
Goblin Void 150 15 6 20 5
Goblin Brute Toxic 500 19 5 100 15
Goblin Brute Void 375 14 10 80 10
Goblin Loot Void 120 23 5 30 5
Spider Void 300 21 10 100 15
Bat Minion Void 120 24 7 60 5
Goblin Lord Void 3,000 13 25 500 25
Mole Man Void 3,500 21 35 1,500 25

Notice the pattern: Void trades speed for health and damage. A Void Goblin Lord is no faster than a base one but hits the same and has the same health — the mutation is a downgrade in threat for slow enemies and an upgrade for fast ones.

Notable drops

Enemies are a gear source, not just a coin source:

Enemy Drops
Goblin, Goblin Brute, Loot Goblin Coal
Goblin Knight Coal, Steel Sword
Goblin Lord Coal, Goblin Lord Crown
Goblin Champion Champion’s Helmet, Chest, Legs, Hammer
Vampire Golden Key, Gold Bar
Mimic Gold Ore
Gunner Miner Crazy Miner Chest, Helmet

The Goblin Champion set is the most valuable normal drop — a full equipment set from one enemy type, and it spawns in the Goblin’s Arena. Vampire drops Golden Keys, which open the gear chests inside Vampire Mansions. The structures and dungeons guide maps where each of those spawns.

Where enemies scale

The enemy list grows with depth. The layers page has the full table, but the short version:

  • Grass (0–10,000 m) — Goblin, Goblin Brute, then Loot Goblins at 10,000 m
  • Dirt (10,000 m) — mutations begin, Spiders arrive
  • Crystal (31,000 m) — Bombo, Bat, Fuel Leech join
  • The Abyss (61,000 m) — Mole Man joins
  • 84,000 m onward — everything, plus Wolf Bat

If you are choosing what to bring, the best classes tier list ranks classes by what they fix, and how to reach 100 KM is the run plan built on this enemy data.
